These refurbishments are part of a master plan of works that will reform all hospital rooms over the next few years as well as several services to renovate the wards and provide higher-quality care to patients. In addition, the hospital has <strong>parking with enough spaces for all patients.<\/strong>\r\n<h4><strong>Nuclear Medicine Unit<\/strong><\/h4>\r\nIn 2000, <strong>Vithas Valencia 9 de Octubre Hospital<\/strong> acquired the first PET scanner in the Region of Valencia and one of the first in Europe. Since 2016, it has been accredited for trials and audited by the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EARM).\r\n\r\nIt is accredited by the Ministry of Health for training nuclear medicine specialists. In addition, the hospital was the first European centre (2014) to make the drug needed to visualise amyloid deposits in the brain outside of clinical trials, representing a significant advance in controlling Alzheimer\u2019s disease.\r\n<h4><strong>Coloproctology Unit and Digestive Endoscopy Unit\u200b<\/strong><\/h4>\r\nThe Coloproctology Unit at Vithas Valencia 9 de Octubre Hospital (European Centre for Colorectal Surgery) is accredited as an Advanced Unit by the Spanish Association of Coloproctology \u2014 the only private hospital with this prestigious certification in Spain. The members of the unit are specialist coloproctology surgeons certified by the European Union (European Board) and authorities in the diagnostic and therapeutic management of colorectal problems.\r\n\r\nThis unit works closely with the Digestive Endoscopy Unit, which has an endoscopic ultrasound that allows for not only normal endoscopic vision, but also vision via ultrasound of the entire environment, which helps and facilitates diagnosis. We also perform therapeutic endoscopy both to treat some lesions permanently and to alleviate others, thereby improving our patients\u2019 quality of life and prognosis.\r\n<h4><strong>Child, Foetal Cardiology and Paediatric Haemodynamics Unit<\/strong><\/h4>\r\nThe <strong>Child and Foetal Cardiology Unit<\/strong> assesses children and foetuses with suspected heart disease. The unit has modern ultrasound equipment for performing cardiac studies on foetuses and children.\r\n\r\nMost of the tests needed to arrive at an accurate and reliable diagnosis (electrocardiogram and echocardiography) are carried out in the consulting room itself and on the same day in order to detect or rule out heart disease, especially in infants and young children.\r\n\r\nThe <strong>Paediatric Sports Cardiology Unit<\/strong> is devoted to ruling out cardiovascular conditions in child athletes that appear healthy or are asymptomatic.\r\n\r\nOur unit has all the necessary technology for screening and monitoring athletes (either healthy or with a known previous condition), including Holter equipment for assessing and monitoring arrhythmia and conventional ergometers\/ergo-spirometers for cardiorespiratory functional assessments.\r\n\r\nIn <strong>Paediatric Haemodynamics<\/strong>, we also treat children with congenital heart disease using cardiac catheterisation in the haemodynamics rooms.
