Special services

We have the most advanced skin diagnostic treatments and techniques, both in dermatology and aesthetic and laser techniques. Our units are equipped with technological devices for digital control and monitoring of melanocytic lesions (moles), making it possible to prevent skin cancer more effectively. With this aim, we track moles in at-risk patients through a digital map with photographs of your moles to record their shape, colour, size and position to monitor their evolution, analysing them periodically.

Vithas also has specialists in Mohs surgery, one of the most innovative techniques for treating melanoma, which has proven to be more effective in eliminating any remaining skin cancer.

In addition, we have various technological resources such as facial skin analysis devices, various types of lasers to treat dermatological conditions and facial rejuvenation, focused radiofrequency and ultrasound and epiluminescence techniques.

FAQs

How can I prevent varicose veins?

Varicose veins are an excessive and permanent dilation and elongation of the veins. They usually occur due to circulatory problems. As such, one way to prevent varicose veins is to try to improve circulation in your legs:

  • Bathe the legs in cold water every day and avoid heat sources.
  • Do some kind of exercise every day (walking, swimming, pilates, cycling, etc.).
  • Avoid standing and try to keep your legs elevated for as long as possible.
  • Use compression stockings and avoid wearing tight clothing and high heels.
  • Avoid alcohol, tobacco and oral contraceptives.

Are there “pills” that cure acne?

Acne is cured by different types of treatments, including oral treatments, such as antibiotics, retinoids or antiandrogens, for example.

Oral treatments for acne are usually reserved for cases of moderate-severe acne, although they can also be an alternative for patients with mild-moderate acne who have not responded well to topical treatments, especially those with acne scarring.

What should I do if I get burned?

As in any risk situation, when we suffer a burn or witness such an accident, it is important to remain calm and act as quickly and efficiently as possible.

When you get burned, the first thing to do is try to cool the area with cold water, although not with icy water. You should then cover the area with a sterile bandage or a clean bandage that does not stick to the burn. You should also protect the area to avoid knocking or rubbing the burn.

Depending on the severity, it may need to be looked at by a specialist, such as a dermatologist.

What causes dandruff?

Dandruff involves the peeling of the scalp dermis and is caused by an excess of dead cells due to an acceleration of the cell renewal process. The technical name for dandruff is pityriasis, because the spore of a scalp fungus called Pitirosporum Ovale can sometimes be found in these shedded skin cells.

What is melanoma?

Melanoma is one of the most serious types of skin cancer. When diagnosed in its advanced stages, it has a limited prognosis due to its aggressiveness. However, when caught early, it is treatable and has around a 90% survival rate. Having periodic mole check-ups with your dermatologist or digital mole mapping can help diagnose melanoma early.

What is facial rejuvenation?

Facial rejuvenation consists of treatments for various aesthetic problems, such as facial sagging, volume loss, wrinkles and grooves, facial blemishes or skin quality, among others.

Facial rejuvenation is a general approach to improving the face’s natural beauty while preserving the patient’s essence.

There are various types of aesthetic treatments for facial rejuvenation, such as Botox, facial fillers, collagen stimulators, threads, different types of lasers or pulsed light, radiofrequency, etc.

What is the best hair-removal laser for tanned skin?

There are different types of hair removal lasers that can be used on tanned skin. The most common are the neodymium laser and the diode laser.

Both the neodymium laser and the diode laser have a longer wavelength than other lasers, making them ideal for hair removal on skin with high phototypes, although they can also be effective in lower phototypes.
